Mango season may have come to an end, but the mango trees just keep giving!

As a part of our sustainable practice at Mahaba Farms, we focus on using what we have; especially that which Nature has provided.

Now past the fruiting stage, the mango trees are dropping copious leaves. If allowed, they would eventually decompose beneath the tree & give back to the Earth. That is a satisfactory outcome, but with lots of fall plantings under way, we’ve decided an even better use for the dry leaves is as mulch.

The brown mulch protects our precious soil from the sun’s intense rays; prevents water evaporation from the soil; adds nutrients to the soil as the mulch breaks down & blocks weeds. We give thanks for the mango tree & its offerings!
