As a kid, I thought my Granddad was cruel for shooting at the cute squirrels with his BB gun to run them away from his garden. I have to say, I understand it now.
Not long after I completed my many fruit tree air layers, the squirrels came through & shredded the foil wrapped parcels with their little paws.

They left evidence of their carnage all over.
Months later, I still occasionally stumble upon bits of tin foil on the ground; reminding me of my furry nemesis.

The time will soon come to unwrap my surviving air layers to see if any of them rooted despite the squirrels’ disruption. Nature is resilient🙏🏾.
I could never intentionally harm an animal that isn’t posing a threat to my life or well-being (I don’t even eat meat), but…I understand Granddad’s frustration better than ever. However, the squirrels have just as much right to be on the land, so I’ll work on making friends with them✌🏾.
