Summer Blooms

A late summer treat has been watching the zinnias I sowed months ago pop up all over the farm. The patches of colorful blooms are delightful for the eyes, zero maintenance & beloved by the bees & butterflies.

The best part about zinnias is the more you cut them, the more they grow.

That means week after week of vibrant bouquets until the cool weather sets in. Once their season ends, I aim to replace zinnias with more weather appropriate flowers. We may not be able to eat them, but the benefits of having flowers on the farm (for both the farmer & the pollinators) are too great to ignore. Besides, Grandma said we should grow some things that are just pretty to look at.
