Seize the Moment

It was a regular Monday afternoon running errands on foot in downtown Miami when I spotted two gentlemen putting in new landscaping plants at a shopping center. This is a typical scene, but this time I slowed my stride & watched them swiftly & expertly toss empty nursery pots into a neat pile after dispelling the plant. Something told me to ask the workers if I could take a stack of nursery pots off their hands. Since I always listen to that “something” I politely asked. Knowing that these plastic nursery pots are usually thrown away after the plant has been removed, the workers were unlikely to see much value in the pots, but I could certainly use them for all the soursop seedlings on my balcony in need of a bigger pot.

The man I asked quickly agreed to let me take the stack of pots that stood on the ground between us in exchange for a cold soda. I was happy to oblige & walked a block to 7Eleven & bought him a cold Coca Cola & a bag of chips. I eagerly returned with my offering which he was delighted to accept, along with the surprise bag of chips.

So there I was—-

—elated to carry my bartered goods through the streets of downtown Miami, regardless of the awkward looks I garnered.

Just as my nursery pot supply was dwindling, God presented me with an opportunity to seize🤲🏾. I diverted more plastic from the waste stream; my soursop seedlings have a new, roomier home & the workers didn’t have to labor to dispose of the pots. Everyone wins!

If we pay attention & surrender to our inner Knowing, there are opportunities to be had each & every day we’re gifted🙏🏾

Have a great week on purpose!
