Knee Saving Build

I am mistaken for a 20-year-old often, but me & my 44-year-old joints know the truth😂

With that said, having a couple of solid tables to work on at the farm is long overdue. I had this in mind when I scored 2 metal table frames in the trash pile behind a retail store in August 2023.

I strapped them to the roof of my car knowing I’d turn them into super useful tables one day. That day finally came recently.

More than a year of weathering outside had the frames looking pretty rough, but I still saw the potential.

So I got to work grinding the majority of the surface rust off.

What laid beneath the rust was still a decent platform to build upon.

After angle grinding

In order to increase the durability of the tables, I coated them with Rustoleum (I found the can in one of my ambulance cabinets, so thanks to the former owner for that👍🏾) & let the frames dry overnight.

Next, it was time to visit my (free🙌🏾) wood pile & cut boards to size for my tabletop.

In what was left of daylight, I sanded each board smooth👌🏾

The next morning, there was nothing left to do but assemble.

For a few rewarding hours of work & less than $5 in supplies (screws & paintbrush), I’ve got a functional table that will allow me to work at waist height & be gentler on my aging joints😄 Worth it!

  1. Resourceful and protective, plus it looks great with the fresh paint and the colors and textures of the wood you salvaged! I also appreciate that you break down the how-to in your videos.
