Summer is For Propagating

Each season I identify a few primary objectives. This Summer, one of my primary objectives is plant propagation. Of course, I’ve always got some amount of plant propagation going, but this Summer I’m ramping up👊🏾!

Each week I take cuttings from my perennials- namely cranberry hibiscus, Longevity spinach, sweet potato, Okinawan spinach, Brazilian spinach, various basils.

The Summer heat aids in getting these cuttings quickly rooted & I repeat the process.

I’m also using this season to propagate from cuttings many fruit trees that thrive in the heat- namely various mulberries, passion fruit, jocote/hog plum, strawberry tree.

Since Summer is the season of abundant fruit in south Florida, I’m taking this as my opportunity to acquire seeds for fruit trees I want by eating local fruit, then planting the seeds🤲🏾

It may be too hot to spend a lot of time laboring outside, but progress can be made in every season💪🏾

By the end of this Summer- thanks to my discipline- I’ll have loads of new, edible plants🤲🏾
