I’ve written before about my deep appreciation for air layering as a means of propagating/cloning trees. Each season I’m given additional opportunities to hone this useful skill & experiment as I gain more confidence in my ability.

This Summer’s air layering success was my Ruby Supreme guava. I took a single, gifted tree and turned it into two more trees.

The mother tree has grown so much in the last 6 months that it’s in need of a prune. Rather than simply chopping the unwanted limbs & composting them, I air layered the 6 branches I would have otherwise pruned. Hopefully in a few months I’ll have several new Ruby Supreme guava trees🤲🏾
I consider air layering a necessary skill for resilience. Knowing I can have one tree & turn it into many quickly fruiting trees imbues a degree of self-confidence I’ve yet to otherwise experience. The fact that it’s even possible to clone trees from a branch in this way is nothing short of a miracle. Nature is AMAZING! I pray for many more years to explore her secrets🤓
