As hard as I work, I can’t grow food without help from my more-than-human friends. The microbes that feed on/in my soil; the wasps that pollinate flowers & hunt other insects; the millipedes that breakdown organic matter for my plant roots to use; the ants that aerate the soil & notably the bees that pollinate the flowers. Without the bees, there would be no fruit. I thank them for their service by ensuring there is plenty of pollen for them to enjoy year round. In return, they pollinate my fruiting trees which will subsequently offer me their delicious abundance. This reciprocity has existed since the beginning of time. Humans are not the scourge of the Earth. At least, they don’t have to be. Most have simply forgotten their role & sacred responsibility in a balanced system.
Below is a video of a bee doing her work on one of my Louisiana Sweet orange trees:
May we all do our work with consideration for the whole🙏🏾
